This is the original and best-known unlimited-drinks sightseeing cruise in Budapest: a welcome glass of Hungarian sparkling wine, then table service of prosecco throughout, plus self-service beer and Aperol Spritz if you fancy a change.

There’s English audio commentary as you pass the Parliament, Buda Castle, Gellért Hill and Margaret Island. It’s the safest possible booking — and at €25, seems like the best value.

Our Experience

We picked an early evening tour – 17.45 – on a hot Tuesday in July. At this time there wasn’t too many tourists with us which was a good thing since the boat was a smaller one.

We sat at the rear part of the upper level – a rather steep and narrow steel steps lead there. The chairs were comfortable but the partially covered deck isn’t the best spot for great photos. For this, sit in the uncovered front, though on a summer afternoon the sun is beating down there and the brightness makes it hard to take good shots.

If nice photos are important for you go on a later cruise, timed to the golden hour and sunset when the light is mellow.

We received our first glass of bubbly upon arrival in a glass flute. There was a short audio info on the drinks included and the service.

The staff went around and refilled glasses with perfectly chilled prosecco the rest of the drinks (spritzers, beer, water, non-alcoholic options) were self-serviced.

The boat sailed on the same itinerary as the other ones listed on this page: went past the Parliament, turned at Margaret Bridge and glided down till the National Theatre and Palace of Arts then started its return to the dock near Elizabeth Bridge. The audio commentary was good-quality that summed up the city’s story in a thorough but entertaining way.

Music played in the background – when the audio commentary wasn’t going. A small group of young ladies had quite a small party going as they got warmed up with drinks, but it didn’t bothered us nor anybody else, Acctually, a processo cruise is a good pre-game for clubbing afterwards.

All in all – based on the hype about this original Prosecco Cruise – I expected a bit more comfort and a slightly more spacious boat.

On the other hand, the service and atmosphere were faultless, we liked the drinks (the prosecco is a good quality and chilled to an ideal temperature) so we had a good time.

Verdict: If your goal is to shot absolutely amazing photos choose the Lotus Cruise or the Sip & sail Cruise. Otherwise it’s a good, budget friendl, drink-all-you-can prosecco river tour.

If the big popular boats feel too busy for you, the Lotus is the antidote. Guests consistently praise the relaxed atmosphere, the blankets on deck for cooler evenings, and the friendly bartenders who keep the drinks coming without any hard sell.

You get unlimited Aperol Spritz, prosecco, wine, beer and soft drinks, and the vibe stays calm rather than party. Choose the sunset sailing for golden light or the later evening one for the illuminations.

Our Experience

We arrived on time for the 19:15 cruise, and after a short wait we were able to board.

The boat itself has two levels; the lower level is particularly cozy, with large panoramic windows. If the weather isn’t favorable, this lower section is ideal for a cruise.

We went up to the upper level, which is a large, open, and rather long deck.

At the front was the open bar counter, where we kept going back for our drinks.

Upon boarding we received a glass of prosecco, and then at the bar upstairs we could choose what we wanted as a refill: the selection included Aperol cocktail, Mimosa cocktail, Hugo Spritz, and of course Prosecco.

During the trip the staff came around twice offering prosecco. We tried a few cocktails, but in the end we stuck with the prosecco.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful; they assisted couples with photos, for example when we reached the Parliament, so that both of them could be captured with the symbolic building in the background.

Music played on the open deck, and the chairs placed in the center were especially comfortable — you could even sit through the entire cruise. We picked the best time for photos, because we headed nicely into the golden hour and managed to take some lovely shots during the sunset.

This is the one to book if the sunset and the photos matter most. It’s timed for golden hour, so the city turns warm and glowing just as you’re settling in with your first glass, and there’s a professional photographer on board to catch your group living their best lives.

You get unlimited prosecco and signature cocktails, with chilled background music and a laid-back feel — designed for mingling and memorable pictures rather than a big night out.

Our Experience

I went with my son on a summer afternoon on the 18.00 cruise and despite most everybody had been much younger than me I didn’t feel out of place.

Boarding started just a few minutes before the start of the program so no need to go there too much earlier (especially on a hot summer day).

Upon boarding the ship – a basic 3-level thing – we received our first glass of prosecco. The ship remained in the port for 15 minutes so that everybody could sip their drink and explore the boat at leisure.

On this early evening cruise there weren’t too many people so it was easy to wander around from one part of the ship to another.

There were tables and chairs on the two open sidedecks offering full, unobstructed view of the Danube and the sights.

The staff was really kind and they went around refilling glasses all through the trip. 5 or 6 types of cocktails – Mimosa, Bellini, Blue Bellini, Kir Royal, Aperol Splash, Grapefruit Spritz- are included in the price but if you want to drink something else you can get it from the bar.

The ship took us on a usual loop – after passing the Parliament it turned at Margaret Bridge and sailed up the river till Rákóczi Bridge, turned back and travelled back to the port next to the Chain Bridge.

For the best photos go up the full open deck on the top (one minor inconvenience here was the diesel fume from the ship’s funnel in headwind). There’s also a professional photographer on board who took shots of everyone (you can access them through the operator’s IG and FB pages.)

All in all, it was a very relaxing cruise with refreshing cocktails, easy going staff perfect for an early pre-dinner program. Later cruises on this ship are much louder with more high energy club-vibe. If you want a quieter program where you can drink and talk we recommend one of the late afternoon – early evening (18.00) slots.
