🚍 Getting to the Stadium from Budapest Airport

Budapest Airport is around 25 km from the city centre, so the easiest plan is to travel first to your hotel, drop off your luggage, and then continue to Puskás Aréna by public transport.

For a smooth arrival, we recommend booking an airport transfer to your hotel in advance, especially if you’re arriving with luggage or in a group.

However, for travelling to the stadium on matchday, public transport is the better option — taxis and private cars are not recommended around Puskás Aréna due to heavy traffic and event restrictions.

💡 Local TIP: Book your airport transfer for hotel arrival, then use the metro or tram to reach the stadium (see more below).

On matchday, Champions League Final ticket holders can use selected public transport services free of charge, including

  • Metro lines M1–M4,
  • Tram 1,
  • the Champions Express (UEFA’s special matchday bus service between Budapest Airport and Népliget., and
  • Bus 200E.

If you use the Champion Express from Népliget, you can continue by public transport:

  • to Puskás Aréna: take Tram 1 to Puskás Ferenc Stadion
  • to Heroes’ Square / Champions Festival: take M3 to Deák Ferenc tér, then change to M1
  • to central Budapest landmarks: take M3 toward Deák Ferenc tér

According to UEFA, the Champions Express starts running from 08:00 on matchday and is included in the free matchday travel offer for ticket holders.

⚠️ Please note that the 100E Airport Express is not included in the free matchday travel offer.

Getting to Puskás Aréna

On matchday, it’s best not to take a taxi or private car to Puskás Aréna, as roads around the stadium are expected to be very busy and access may be restricted.

If you’re coming from the Champions Festival at Heroes’ Square, you can also walk to the stadium in around 30 minutes. From many central Budapest landmarks, the walk is roughly 60 minutes, making it a realistic option if you want to avoid crowded transport.

The easiest way to reach the stadium is by public transport. Use metro line M2, or Tram 1 both stop at Puskás Ferenc Stadium. These options offer the most reliable access to the arena before and after the match.

🛌 Where to stay

For the Champions League Final weekend, the best areas to stay are city centre: District V, VI and VII, the area around Keleti railway station, and the Andrássy Avenue / Heroes’ Square neighbourhood.

Downtown hotels are a great choice because many of Budapest’s main sights, restaurants, bars and riverfront attractions are within walking distance. You don’t necessarily need to stay right next to Puskás Aréna — thanks to Budapest’s efficient public transport, outer districts can also work well if you are close to a metro or tram line.

💡Local TIP: For the smoothest trip, book accommodation early and choose a place with easy access to metro line M2, Tram 1, or central transport hubs.
