Beer lovers cannot complain of lack of beer festivals in Budapest.

After the Downtown Beer Festival at the end of summer, beer lovers get to enjoy Oktoberfest Budapest at two locations and dates.

The Fröccsterasz, right next to Erzsébet Square downtown Budapest hosts the festival two times:

September 29 – October 01, and
October 06 – 08.

The other location is Margaret Island where the festival will be held between September 29 – October 01.

The best craft breweries from Hungary, Bavaria and other countries will be present at both places offering a choice of 300 beers.

The night programs starting after 23.00 can be attended with a ticket that you can buy on the premises.

Getting There:

Fröccsterasz at Erzsébet Square: Deák Ferenc tér metro hub (M1, M2, M3 lines), from there a a short walk
Margitsziget: take tram 4 or 6 to Margitsziget lejáró, get off and walk: the Gasztro Promenade at Pualnaer Beer Garden & Terrace is not far from the Musical Fountain, on the right shore of the island

The downtown location in Erzsébet Square is right in the centre with excellent public transport connections. What’s more, the covered terrace provides protection in case of rain.

Margaret Island is a sprawling park embraced by the Danube. You can easily get there as well using public tarnsport (trams 4 and 6) or by bike.

The beuaitiful wooded and landscaped island is an excellent venue for an outdoor festival.

If you come with kids to the OktoberFest then we recommend going to the Margaret Island venue where you can find lots of entertainment for the little ones (playgrounds, a small zoo with animal petting).

Live concerts – Bavarian folk music – and free Oktoberfest memorabilia (official Paulaner Oktoberfest beer mug and Bavarian festival hat) are the additional draws of the festival in this venue.
